On 14 February 1990, shortly before its cameras were switched off for good, Voyager 1 turned and photographed the planets from about six billion kilometres away. In this frame the Earth is smaller than a single pixel, and the bands of light are sunlight scattered inside the camera. This version, made for the picture’s thirtieth anniversary, reprocesses the original data with modern software.
