Wardens
Every exhibit and every plaque has a warden at the door, working from the owner’s rules and the owner’s words.

Honest status
Working today: wardens with fixed questions and answers, scripted. Next: wardens that hold a conversation and quote the owner’s own words. Either way the rules are the owner’s, and the key never leaves the visitor’s browser.
A warden can hand over
- Letters and stories the owner wrote
- Notes for whoever takes a project over
- Directions: where something is, and who to ask
- A badge, such as successor or student
- The right to light a lamp and leave a word
A warden can never hand over
- Keys, recovery phrases or passwords
- Money or crypto assets (those live in the owner’s own Cold Vault)
- Anything the owner did not write
- A voice or a face. It says “they wrote”, never “I”.
How it decides
The answers are normalised (case, spaces and punctuation ignored) and turned into a key with PBKDF2-SHA256, 210,000 rounds, in the visitor’s browser. If the key opens the AES-256-GCM lock, the door opens. Nobody else is asked.
Try another warden
Mira wrote a small ferry timetable app for her island and left notes for whoever takes it over. Her warden asks two questions only an islander would know.
The Pier Warden
Hello. This is the exhibit of the Island Ferry Timetable. Mira left a letter and some practical notes for whoever takes it over. Two questions, and they are yours.
Question 1: How many ferries run each day?
Question 2: What is Mira’s cat called?
