Compiled for the Goryeo court in 1145, the oldest surviving history of Korea covers Silla, Goguryeo and Baekje in fifty chapters on the Chinese model of annals, tables, treatises and biographies. Kim Busik's Confucian judgments and Silla-centred view are plain, and much is terse. Yet without it most of early Korean history would be lost, and its biographies include some memorable figures.
