Register of Librarians
Librarians keep this place. They hang exhibits, review applications, look after the wardens and translate. Each has a number. Numbers are not given out in order, and short or memorable ones are held back for events and contributors.
On duty.
| Number | Name | Since |

Only librarians who chose to be listed appear here, by pen name.

We send a code to your email. Once you enter it, your email is deleted and your number is retired, never to be reused.
One minute. No test. One oath.
Give a name or stay anonymous, pick a desk, take the oath, and get a card with your number. We keep your email only to send you a code and the occasional notice from the front desk. Our emails never contain links.

Numbers are issued at random between 100000 and 999999. Everything below 100000 and every memorable number is locked in a cabinet for events and contributors: repeated digits, runs, mirrors, round numbers, and numbers that mean something here, such as 78, 520, 1004 and 2114. Reserved numbers cannot be sold, traded or transferred, and they carry no authority. A retired number is never issued again.

Rank records what you did. It grants no power.
- Librarian
- Finished orientation, took the oath, received a number.
- Docent
- Helped someone hang an exhibit or a plaque, confirmed by that person. Never paid, never pushed.
- Warden-keeper
- Looks after wardens: tests them, reports where they quote badly.
- Conservator
- Code, docs, translation, design, accessibility or a security report accepted into the project.
- Steward of the Stacks
- A long-standing conservator. Keeps the rules; gives no orders.
Badges, not ranks: Night Warden (a responsible security disclosure) · Interpreter (a translation) · Lamplighter (lit lamps on ten plaques they were recognised at). No rank can open anyone else's layers, the founder's included.
