Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;Conspiring with him how to load and blessWith fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;To bend with apples the moss’d cottage-trees,And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shellsWith a sweet kernel; to set budding more,And still more, later flowers for the bees,Until they think warm days will never cease,For Summer has o’er-brimm’d their clammy cells.
Who hath not seen thee oft amid thy store?Sometimes whoever seeks abroad may findThee sitting careless on a granary floor,Thy hair soft-lifted by the winnowing wind;Or on a half-reap’d furrow sound asleep,Drows’d with the fume of poppies, while thy hookSpares the next swath and all its twined flowers:And sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keepSteady thy laden head across a brook;Or by a cyder-press, with patient look,Thou watchest the last oozings hours by hours.
Where are the songs of Spring? Ay, where are they?Think not of them, thou hast thy music too,—While barred clouds bloom the soft-dying day,And touch the stubble-plains with rosy hue;Then in a wailful choir the small gnats mournAmong the river sallows, borne aloftOr sinking as the light wind lives or dies;And full-grown lambs loud bleat from hilly bourn;Hedge-crickets sing; and now with treble softThe red-breast whistles from a garden-croft;And gathering swallows twitter in the skies.
Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;你是那催熟万物的太阳的知心密友;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;挂满果实,并为它们赐福;
To bend with apples the moss’d cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;让所有的果实都熟透到核心;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,饱满起甜美的果仁;让更多、
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o’er-brimm’d their clammy cells.
Who hath not seen thee oft amid thy store?
Sometimes whoever seeks abroad may find
Thee sitting careless on a granary floor,
Thy hair soft-lifted by the winnowing wind;头发被扬谷的风轻轻吹起;
Or on a half-reap’d furrow sound asleep,
Drows’d with the fume of poppies, while thy hook
Spares the next swath and all its twined flowers:放过了下一行庄稼和缠绕其间的花朵;
And sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keep
Steady thy laden head across a brook;头顶沉甸甸的谷穗,稳稳地走过小溪;
Or by a cyder-press, with patient look,
Thou watchest the last oozings hours by hours.
Where are the songs of Spring? Ay, where are they?
Think not of them, thou hast thy music too,—别想它们了,你也有你的音乐——
While barred clouds bloom the soft-dying day,当一道道云霞把柔和地逝去的白昼映得如花绽放,
And touch the stubble-plains with rosy hue;给收割后的田野染上玫瑰的色泽;
Then in a wailful choir the small gnats mourn
Among the river sallows, borne aloft
Or sinking as the light wind lives or dies;时起时息,时而被托高,时而又沉落;
And full-grown lambs loud bleat from hilly bourn;长大了的羊羔在山野间高声咩叫;
Hedge-crickets sing; and now with treble soft
The red-breast whistles from a garden-croft;在园圃里用柔和的高音吹着口哨;
And gathering swallows twitter in the skies.
