- Description
- A wide street at dusk under a dark blue sky. Snow lies on the rooftops and at the edges of the road, telegraph poles and a lamp post line the way, and people hurry past under large white umbrellas while a rickshaw rolls by on the right.

Kiyochika made his name in the late 1870s with prints of the new Tokyo, studying the light of gas lamps, lanterns and evening skies as earlier woodblock artists had not. The telegraph wires are new; the umbrellas and the snow are old. It hangs here for that meeting of a changing city and an unchanged winter evening.
